Mt. Kipipiri is connected to the Aberdare Range and stands tall with an elevation of 3349m ASL M t.kipipiri is an isolated volcano in the wanjohi valley on the kinangop plateau near to the aberdare range.
The name of the mountain means "Butterfly" in the Gikuyu sialect, a reference to its profile from a distance .the mount kipipiri forest reserve is part of the aberdare national park.wildlife includes colobus and kykes monkeys, elephants and buffalo and abundant birdlife.
The hike will take you through dense forest ,health and moorlands vegetation with the peak almost on bare rock surface with little high altitude vegetation. the walk is long (10 hours)but beautiful landscapes will surely reward you.plan to start early to ensure return to the city early in the evening hours.the hike up is long ,but the descent is via a shorter route on the ndunyu njeru side.
